BACKGROUND: Erin is a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), board certified and licensed in the state of Michigan. She has a master's degree in Speech Pathology from The Ohio State University.
EXPERIENCE: With over 12 years of experience working with all populations in all settings, Erin now specializes in pediatrics treating needs and abilities included but not limited to: speech sound disorders, phonological disorders, social communication disorders, and orofacial myofunctional disorders. Erin has specialized training to treat children on the Autism Spectrum as well as Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders.
Erin started her private practice, Exemplary Speech Services in the spring of 2022. She is also an Affiliated Clinical Faculty member at Grand Valley State University within the Speech Language Pathology Program, serving as a Clinical Preceptor to graduate students.
Erin's additional certifications in yoga instruction, breathwork and health coaching serve to strengthen her knowledge in treating the "whole-child" with principles of mindfulness, self-regulation and holistic wellness.
PERSONAL: Erin is married, and a mother to 4 kids and 2 cats. She loves staying healthy through fitness, yoga and diet. Erin has lived in 8 states and loves traveling and nature.
BACKGROUND: Sophia is a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). She earned her master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from GVSU, and is licensed in the state of Michigan, as well as board-certified.
EXPERIENCE: Sophia's background is in the school and clinical settings, treating children with needs and abilities including but not limited to: medically-complex and severe communication needs, feeding therapy and alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) methods.
PERSONAL: Sophia is getting married next summer in Portugal! She has two dogs, Cole and Charlotte, that love to go running with her. Sophia loves to travel, host dinner parties and try new restaurants.
BACKGROUND: Kate is a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), board certified and licensed in the state of Michigan. She has a master’s degree in Speech Pathology from Calvin University.
EXPERIENCE: With 10 years of experience in clinical and hospital settings, Kate now specializes in pediatrics treating needs and abilities included but not limited to: cognitive-communication disorders, motor speech disorders, and pediatric feeding/swallowing disorders. Kate also has specialized training to treat children with swallowing difficulty, airway differences, and is a PROMPT certified clinician. Kate is very passionate about understanding how sensory challenges may impact speech and swallowing.
PERSONAL: Kate enjoys running, yoga, golf and meditation. She also loves spending time with her pug, Stella.
BACKGROUND: Hope is an Occupational Therapist (OT), board certified and licensed in the state of Michigan. She has her master's degree from Davenport University and an undergraduate background in Exercise Science. Additional areas during her studies included Spanish (she’s bilingual!) and Studio Art/Photography.
EXPERIENCE: Hope specializes in pediatrics, treating needs and abilities, including but not limited to: autism, developmental delays, attention and self-regulation deficits, sensory processing needs and motor coordination difficulties. She is trained in reflex integration and neurosensorimotor therapy techniques, and is passionate about taking a holistic approach toward all aspects of a child’s life to guide them towards their highest potential.
PERSONAL: Hope enjoys coaching girls youth soccer and has a part-time portrait photography business. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and rescue pup, Nova.
BACKGROUND: Mel is an Occupational Therapist (OT), board certified and licensed in the state of Michigan. She has a master’s degree from Baker College of Flint.
EXPERIENCE: Mel specializes in pediatrics and adult populations, treating needs and abilities, including but not limited to; autism, developmental delays, sensory integration/processing differences, ADD/ADHD, dyspraxia, regulation, strength, motor & coordination challenges and other physical and mental abilities.
Mel is continuing her studies of sensory and reflex integration, neurosensorimotor therapy techniques and the Tummy Time Method approach.
PERSONAL: Mel enjoys traveling, being outside, reading, playing her switch and time with her friends and family.
BACKGROUND: Alyson is a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), certified and licensed in the state of Michigan. She has a master’s degree from Calvin University.
EXPERIENCE: Alyson has experience in the school and clinic settings with children with a variety of needs and abilities, including but not limited to; Autism Spectrum Disorder, expressive and receptive language delays, articulation delays and disorders, and Cognitive Disorders. Alyson works with preschoolers in Ravenna and Orchard View school districts during the school year and provides clinical services at ESS during the summer term.
PERSONAL: Alyson enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching Netflix, and exercising.
BACKGROUND: Marisa is currently earning her master’s degree from GVSU. She completed her winter Clinical Internship with Exemplary Speech Services and is now on staff to handle billing and administrative needs.
Marisa has a background in ABA therapy and is passionate about working with preschool and school-aged children with communication disorders.
EXPERIENCE: Marisa is currently completing her final internship and will graduate in december with her master's degree.
PERSONAL: Marisa loves to read and spend time outdoors. She has a dog named Penny who makes spending time outside extra fun!
BACKGROUND: Camryn is in her senior year of undergrad at GVSU, studying Communication Sciences & Disorders and Spanish. She is currently amidst the graduate admissions process to become certified as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
EXPERIENCE: Camryn has research experience with sociolinguistic diversity and speech sound investigation. She is passionate about language and communication, and plans to specialize in speech and language intervention with bilingual children.
Camryn is out Clinical Assistant, working on various projects and tending to any clinic or therapist needs.
PERSONAL: Camryn is involved in GVSU's Euphoria Acappella and the Cook Leadership Academy, and loves to sing and cook.

Our approach is holistic. This means collaborating with families to understand the "whole-child." Together, we create a treatment plan that builds on each child's unique strengths and needs. Goals are individualized and meaningful to the family and reflect developmental milestones.
Holistic also means meeting each child where they are at. We recognize that kids learn best when they are calm and happy. We are skilled at teaching and guiding kids the core skills needed to learn.
These core skills are called Executive Functioning Skills and include the ability to regulate our nervous systems, focus/concentrate, remember information, process and communicate about our emotional states, and more!
Once children are regulated, they can connect to their own sense of motivation and take action toward their therapy goals.
